Hi,
My name is Alex. I am a bright-eyed, bushy tailed 20-something from Toronto, who is just trying to navigate her way through the adult world. If I am being incredibly honest, I’m feeling a little lost at the moment. On paper it seems like my life is all figured out but the truth is far less glamorous.
I have an undergraduate BA in English Lit. and Sociology. I also have a Post Graduate Diploma in Arts Management. I got a job right out of school, in my field. I’m working as a development coordinator read fundraiser for a well established arts organization in the city. I also have a fantastic guy/partner/bestfriend/sidekick/person, he’s pretty neat.
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently and I’m starting to realize that sometimes the big obvious things that we spend so much time working towards aren’t actually the things that matter. Since the age of 10 I was taught that if I got an education, a job and a relationship then my life would be a success. And here I am at the ripe old age of 23 with all of those things, but I still want so much more because there is so much more to life than those big 3 things. I want to travel, I want to make stuff, I want to go on adventures with my friends, I want to improve myself, I want to develop new skills, I want to continue to grow and learn and figure out who I am. Because life actually isn’t really about the big 3 at all, it’s about the small things.
And so is this blog.

Hello Alex. You are certainly bright-eyed and bushy tailed, with lots of years ahead of you to do all the things you’d like to do. I hope you do. Sometimes, other things in life step in to hold you up – or sometimes, to help you along. But if you keep your target in mind, I’m sure you’ll accomplish most of them. Remember to be happy along the way. 🙂

It takes time to figure out where you’re going and what you really want in life. You’re doing OK by ‘feeling the water’ at the moment. If you enjoy writing, doing your blog is a very good start. There are plenty of people happy to comment and offer suggestions or advice, if you want it. Have fun with it, anyway. 🙂

No problem! I have felt very drawn to New Orleans recently (despite never having been there) and so I thought following your blog would be a good way to satisfy my need to see the city, for the time being. I have plans to visit in 2016.

I’d better go take some pictures of places travelers want to see or y’all will be disappointed.

hi , Alex .
my name is Hailey and I am new to the blogging world … I haven’t even put my blog up yet , actually ! my blog will be about writing , mainly ; I am a young writer . I found your blog through Angela Eve on My College Odyssey and I really like all that this blog is about ! the recipes , and the travelers guides , and especially your lovely experience running a 5K marathon ! that seems exhausting ! 😛 I just wanted to say that I am young , and I look up to people that are a few years older than me . (you’re a little less that a decade older ! 🙂 ) even though I don’t “know” you , I just wanted to say that you are now a role model of mine . I want to do some of the things that you do , and I find comfort in your postings . thank you very much ! I cannot wait to come back !
your truly , Hailey

Hi Hailey, thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. I have found that sharing my stories and experiences on the blog is great writing practice. I also feel a sense of calm and relaxation when I get my thoughts out of my head and onto paper (or so to speak). It means a lot to hear that I am a role model! That is a very kind thing to say! I wish you good luck with your own blog! Once it is up and running let me know so that I can follow it!

Thank you, Millie! As I very recently did a blog award post I am going to wait a few weeks to accept and pass on this award nomination. You are too kind!

I’m really pleased you have accepted, Alex, and waiting a few weeks is not a problem. I was nominated for this one over two weeks ago, but hadn’t got time to do it until now. It was too soon after the Liebster post to do before now, too. 🙂

The more I write and the more blogs I read, I’m realizing how many people are piecing life together bit by bit. It is rather comforting. Even still, we have a lot in common! wow! In addition to all that stuff, we also have the same name! Wild. Anyway, thank you so much for reading! I’ll be sure to check out your bog as well.
